This French tapestry was created in the Pastorale style that was very popular in the late 18th Century.
This tapestry was originally designed by Jean-Baptiste Huet in 1780. This design was part of a series of ten tapestries called the Tentures Pastorales.
The red drapery was a popular accent that was often added to such tapestries. The color was usually a bold red to indicate rich beauty, but some draperies were a gorgeous blue shade as well.
