The Harvesting of Pineapples was originally commissioned for the Rambouillet Castle.

This piece is part of a 10 tapestry series entitled "The History of the Chinese Emperor". This design was considered extremely exotic at the time, as was the wish of Louis Alexandre de Bourbon--the son of Louis XIV.

This piece is woven in France from a 50% wool, 40% cotton blend. Since it has such a high wool content, this tapestry is thick and heavy. It comes backed with lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
